Chernihiv branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”
The institution started its activity in accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of July 23, 1964 as Chernihiv zonal agrochemical laboratory.
As a result of several reorganizations in 2013, the institution was transformed into the Chernihiv branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”.
This is a large modern research institution that conducts a wide range of agroecological and land management works from field and analytical research to design and technological work in the region with the issuance of necessary documentation, research of the quality of crop products, feed, fertilizers, etc.
The branch annually conducts an agrochemical survey of 170-200 thousand hectares of agricultural land, certifies 3.5 thousand land plots, provides certificates on the state of soil fertility, and produces cartographic materials.
Based on the results of analytical studies, design and estimate documentation for chemical land reclamation, land management projects with ecological and economic justification of crop rotations are developed, which determine the economically justified application of mineral fertilizers.
Scientific Work
Employees of the branch perform significant amounts of research work, the results of which are embodied in scientific publications, numerous methodological recommendations, and Mass Media presentations. Chernihiv branch is a member of the Ukrainian society of soil scientists and agrochemists.
Branch Collaboration
Chernihiv branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” successfully cooperates with the regional state administration, the Department of agro-industrial development of the Regional state administration, Departments of agro-industrial development of district administrations, the state inspectorate of Agriculture and other institutions.
Much attention is paid to the development of international cooperation. Friendly scientific ties with the Bryansk “Agrokhimradiology” center and the Gomel design and exploration station for agricultural chemicalization have long been consistently maintained. Since 2007, the branch has been participating in two joint international projects with Dutch scientists.
