Kirovograd branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”

In August 1964, the Kirovograd zonal agrochemical laboratory was established at the Kirovograd regional state agricultural experimental station, which, having passed the path of reorganization and improvement, has been a branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona”   since June 1, 2013.

This is the only research organization in the region that is responsible for conducting continuous agrochemical certification of agricultural  land-one of the main components of soil monitoring.

The branch is equipped with modern instruments and equipment, is accredited by the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine and has 50 experienced and qualified specialists. Most of them have honorary distinctions and certificates of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and food of Ukraine, the regional state administration and other institutions and organizations for their fruitful production and scientific and educational activities.

Specialists of the branch can annually perform more than 100 types of various studies of soil, crop products, food products and construction materials, mineral and organic fertilizers, water, pesticides.

Every year,  an agrochemical survey is conducted on an area of 230-270 thousand hectares of agricultural land, 3.2–4.2 thousand agrochemical passports, 120-160 recommendations  on resource-saving fertilizer application technology and 480-640 agrochemical cartograms of humus content, nutrients and acidity are produced.

According to the results of analytical studies, from 40 to 100 thousand  tons of agricultural products are certified annually, and soil and plant diagnostics of mineral nutrition of winter crops calculate the need for mineral fertilizers for the planned harvest.

Based on statistical reports, the branch’s specialists calculate the balance of humus and nutrients, the payback of fertilizers by crop yields, their economic efficiency and the output of products from the balohectare.

Branch research materials can be used for:

establishment of a qualitative assessment of the soil cover of fields (plots) and their transformation at low values for tinning and afforestation;

optimization of the structure of agricultural land and acreage of agricultural crops;

application of balanced, cost effective standards of organic and mineral fertilizers;

radical soil improvement;

conducting a monetary assessment of land and determining the amount of land payment;

development of investment projects, business plans, innovative technologies, etc.

Scientific achievements of the branch are popularized at seminars, meetings, scientific and practical conferences, both regional, state and international. The results of scientific and practical activities of the branch’s employees are reflected in Scientific Reports, articles, methodological recommendations, brochures, books, booklets, reference books, etc.

The Kirovohrad branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” closely cooperates with regional state and scientific institutions, organizations, agricultural enterprises and design organizations.
