Rivne branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”

The Rivne branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” is the only research agrochemical institution in the region with a wide range of functional responsibilities, the main of which is continuous ecological and agrochemical monitoring of agricultural land within the region.

During its activities, the branch conducted nine rounds and started the tenth round of agrochemical certification of agricultural land in the region. Every year, an agrochemical survey of land is conducted on an area of 110 thousand hectares, with the expectation that all agricultural land of the region is surveyed in 5 years. Up to 25 thousand soil samples are taken annually, in which up to 100 thousand are performed. tests for the content of humus, alkaline hydrolyzed nitrogen, PH acidity and hydrolytic acidity, mobile forms of phosphorus, exchange potassium, sulfur, exchange calcium and magnesium, the sum of absorbed bases, trace elements (manganese, copper, cobalt, boron, zinc, molybdenum), heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, zinc, copper) and radionuclides (Caesium-137, Strontium-90), residual amounts of pesticides.

Since 1978, passports of 29 monitoring sites have been kept in the Rivne branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona”, where each monitoring site is assigned an individual code, geographical coordinates and dimensions are determined, the type of soil is indicated, and the start date of observations at a certain monitoring site. At these sites, soil studies are conducted for the content of agrochemical, physico-chemical indicators, trace elements, pollutants (heavy metal salts, residues of resistant pesticides, radionuclides) and the study of coefficients of transfer of pollutants from the soil to the plant.

In order to improve the land monitoring system, an automated database is constantly updated at various levels: field, agricultural enterprise, administrative district, region, which allows you to quickly predict the state of soil fertility in different soil and climatic zones with appropriate farming systems and provide suggestions to governing bodies for making operational decisions on suspending degradation processes at a certain stage and in the future, restoring soil fertility, as well as highly effective use of mineral and organic fertilizers and chemical meliorants.

Currently, the branch’s laboratories are certified by the Ukrainian State Center for Standardization and certification “Ukragrostandartsertification” for measuring the indicators of objects in accordance with the certification industry. Certificate of certification No. A 11-142, issued on June 24, 2011 and valid until June 14, 2014.

The institution has 45 employees, including 1 candidate of Agricultural Sciences and four specialists studying in graduate school.
