Zhytomyr branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”

Zhytomyr branch performs more than 100 types of various analytical studies of soil and crop production. The qualitative composition of mineral and organic fertilizers is determined. Radiological and toxicological studies are being conducted, and land management projects are being developed.

The branch annually conducts agrochemical certification of agricultural land on an area of 204-267 thousand hectares, develops 3.8 – 7 thousand agrochemical passports, provides certificates on the state of soil fertility, etc.

Based on the results of analytical studies, certification of crop products is carried out annually. Design and estimate documentation for chemical reclamation of acidic soils is developed, plant and soil diagnostics are carried out, based on the results of which calculations of the need for mineral fertilizers for the planned harvest and recommendations for their use are provided.

The branch’s specialists conduct research and advisory work, which is based on research and coverage of topical environmental issues related to the protection and reproduction of soil fertility.

Zhytomyr branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” is accredited in the system “Ukragrostandard”.

Specialists of the branch take part in seminars, meetings, scientific and practical conferences held within the framework of regional programs. Within the framework of such meetings, seminars and conferences, the work of the branch is highlighted (in the form of thematic presentations), attention is focused on general problematic issues in the agricultural system and possible solutions, and issues related to the environmental safety of the region are raised.

Within the framework of scientific research, monitoring of soils and plants in the regional network of stationary observation sites, monitoring of surface waters for agricultural use is carried out.

The result of scientific and practical activities of the branch’s employees is the writing of Scientific Reports, publication of articles, methodological recommendations, booklets, brochures, etc.

Zhytomyr branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine” successfully cooperates with Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, Department of agro-industrial development of Zhytomyr regional state administration, Department of ecology and natural resources of Zhytomyr regional administration, Zhytomyr national agroecological University and other scientific institutions of the region, Main Department of land resources, State enterprise “Zhytomyr research and Design Institute of land management”.
