Kherson branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”

The Kherson branch performs about 150 types of various analytical studies of soil, crop products and irrigation water. The qualitative composition of mineral and organic fertilizers is determined, radiological and toxicological studies are conducted.

The branch annually conducts an agrochemical survey of 350 – 400 thousand hectares of agricultural land, certification of 3.5-4.5 thousand land plots, provides certificates on the state of soil fertility, and produces cartographic material.   Based on the results of analytical studies, certification of 20-30 thousand tons of crop products is carried out. Design and estimate documentation for chemical reclamation of saline soils is developed, plant and soil diagnostics are carried out, based on the results of which calculations of the need for mineral fertilizers for the planned harvest and recommendations for their use are provided.

Specialists of the branch conduct research and advisory work, which is based on research and coverage of topical environmental issues of soil fertility protection and reproduction. The Kherson branch of the SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” is accredited in the system “Ukragrostandard”. For fruitful production and scientific and educational activities, the service has received state distinctions and awards.

Employees of the branch take part in seminars, meetings, scientific and practical conferences held within the framework of regional programs and outside the region, where they highlight scientific achievements and work of the branch (in the form of thematic presentations), focus on general problematic issues in the agricultural system and possible solutions, raise the issue of environmental safety of the region, etc.

Agrochemical certification of land is a part of large-scale monitoring of soil productivity and the basis for scientific support of rational agricultural production.

The Kherson branch of the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine” fruitfully cooperates with the Kherson regional state administration, the Department of agro-industrial development of the Kherson regional state administration, the State Department of Environmental Protection in the Kherson region, the Main Department of land resources, the state enterprise “Kherson research and design institute of land management”, the Kherson state enterprise of geodesy, cartography and cadastre “Khersongeoinform”, Kherson state agrarian University and other scientific institutions of the region.
