On November 17, 2021, a regular meeting of the bureau of the presidium of the National Academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine was held.
The main topic of the meeting was “Geoinformation systems and technologies for use in irrigated agriculture in the south of Ukraine”. Sergey Kokovikhin, deputy director for research at the Institute of irrigated agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, made detailed materials on the results of work on this topic. The report highlighted a number of issues related to the development and implementation of GIS technologies in scientific research and in the production conditions of the agricultural sector. Special emphasis was placed on the adaptation of agricultural technologies to climate changes and stress factors, taking into account measures to prevent soil degradation, desertification of territories, erosion and reduction of their fertility, freshwater scarcity, etc.
The participants of the meeting took an active part in the discussion of the issue raised, which caused a lively discussion and discussion.
Svitlana Shukaylo, deputy director of the Kherson branch of the SI “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine”, was invited to participate in the work of the Bureau of the presidium, who made a report on “elements of GIS technologies in the soil monitoring system”during the meeting. The results of using elements of GIS-technologies in the preparation of cartographic material based on the results of ecological and agrochemical research of agricultural soils in the context of certain spatial arrays were presented.
Following the meeting of the Bureau, the activities of the Institute and other scientific institutions in the development and implementation of GIS-technologies were approved as satisfactory.
