On December 14, a round table was held in Kharkiv on the topic: “9 months of war. Damages to the agricultural sector and prospects for their compensation”.
The event was organized by the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Public Union with the support of the USAID Program for Agrarian and Rural Development (AGRO).
At the event, current data on the assessment of losses caused to the agricultural sector as a result of military operations were presented, as well as possible mechanisms for compensating farmers for losses in view of the adoption of the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on November 14, 2022 were discussed.
Agrarians had an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with the algorithm of actions for the formation of an evidence base about the crimes committed by Russian troops against their enterprises.
The round table was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Office of Reforms of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the USAID Program for Agrarian and Rural Development (AGRO), the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, the international legal organization Project Expedite Justice, and as well as agricultural producers and community leaders.
The city of Kharkiv was chosen as the venue for the round table for a reason, because the agro-production sector of this region has undergone large-scale destruction. At the same time, the de-occupation of communities took place not so long ago, and the process of documenting crimes against farms and collecting evidence is just beginning.
