History
The Institute was founded in 1964 by organizing a network of 25 zonal agrochemical laboratories.
Now SI “Derzhgruntokhorona” and 23 branches already 55 years conduct agrochemical examination of soil Ukraine on agricultural lands with the issuance of passports agrochemical field or land. Specialists investigate physical and chemical, agrochemical, radiological and toxicological indicators of soil (25 names). Also, establishment provides services of soil diagnostics and leaf diagnostics, land management works, the state testing of agrochemicals, the analysis of quality of agricultural products, feeds, fertilizers, ameliorants, etc.
Scientific researchers are conducted in the licensed laboratories, 6 of which accredited in accordance with EN ISO / IEC 17025.
The newly created team of the laboratory, young both in age and experience, which was sorely lacking, tried from the first months of its work to prove the ability to carry out agrochemical soil survey and maintenance of farms in the region in accordance with the requirements that were set at that time for the agrochemical service of Ukraine.
On July 8, 1968, in order to improve the management of zonal agrochemical laboratories and bring their work closer to production, by Order No. 470 of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Ukrainian SSR, zonal agrochemical laboratories were subordinated to the Department of chemicalization of Agriculture.

On September 11, 1979 , by Resolution No. 446 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, the Republican production and scientific association for agrochemical services of Agriculture “Ukrsilkhozkhimiya” was established, to which zonal agrochemical laboratories were subordinated.
In 1981, by a decree of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, zonal agrochemical laboratories were transformed into state regional design and exploration stations for agricultural chemicalization.
In 1992, the state regional design and exploration stations for agricultural chemicalization, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Agriculture and food of Ukraine, became part of the newly created Ukrainian state association “Ukragrokhim”.
In 1993, on the basis of the “Regulations on the Ministry of Agriculture and food of Ukraine”, the Ukrainian state service for soil monitoring and product quality “Ukrgruntomonitoring” was established.
In 1998, by order of the Ministry of agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, the Central State station for soil fertility and plant protection was established on the basis of Ukragroch. And in 1999, by order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, this station was reorganized into the main state Plant Protection Inspectorate and the State Center for the protection of soil fertility and product quality, and the state regional design and exploration stations for agricultural chemicalization were transformed into state design and technological centers for the protection of soil fertility and product quality of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and regions.
By resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1218 of August 3, 2000, the State Center for the protection of soil fertility and product quality of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine was reorganized into the State Technological Center for the protection of soil fertility of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
Наказом Мінагрополітики від 23.11.2010 № 759 установу перейменовано у Державний науково-технологічний центр охорони родючості ґрунтів.
Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of 4.09.2012 No. 542 “On the reorganization of state institutions whose activities are related to the protection of soil fertility and product quality” reorganized the state institution “Tsentrderzhrodyuchost” and regional centers Krymderzhrodyuchost and Oblderzhrodyuchost by joining.
Having passed the path of reorganization and improvement, zonal laboratories turned into the state institution “Institute of soil protection of Ukraine” (Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of 20.03.2013 № 198), which includes 24 branches and implements scientific and technical policy in the field of soil protection and their fertility, rational use and environmental safety of agricultural land, environmental objects, determining the quality of products, raw materials, agrochemicals.
